AlphaCuts swiftly displays in alphabetical listings, your programs on the startmenu, favorites in Internet Explorer and documents in the my documents folder.

When the program is run for the first time: Press the button "UPDATE ALL" to have data fetched from your system. See updating data.

Select either "Programs", "Favorites" or "Documents". Browse the alphabetical panel and have the items beginning with the selected letter displayed in the main window. In the window to the right will be displayed the folders which begin with the selected letter.

The alphabetical panel

Clicking on a letter in the alphabetical panel will fix that letter so that the selected letter does not change when moving over the panel. When entering again with the mouse, the selected letter will automatically change again.

When "Programs" is selected, clicking on an item in the main window will attempt to launch the program to which the shortcut is connected.

Right-clicking in the window will show a popupmenu with options for programs.

Favorites

When "Favorites" is selected, clicking on an item in the main window will attempt to have the default browser go to the url to which the favorite is connected.

Right-clicking in the window will show a popupmenu with options for favorites:

Goto random favorite: Randomly chooses one of the favorites and lets the webbrowser navigate to it.

Menu

Right-click the alpha-sign for a popup menu.

Updating the data

The first time you run AlphaCuts, press the button "UPDATE ALL", or select "Update all" from the menu. This must be done in order to fetch the data from your system. Alphacuts saves this to the harddrive and will automatically thereafter read the saved data on startup.

The program will not interact with Internet Explorer or the file system, so to have AlphaCuts display the latest changes, an update must be performed.

It's possible to have the program automatically update at startup, by selecting "Always update at startup" from the menu.

Task bar tray

The application can be placed on the task bar tray by selecting "Place on task bar tray" from the menu. A shortcut will be placed in the users startup folder. If left in this state when exiting the program, AlphaCuts will start on startup the next time Windows is started. Left-clicking on the tray icon will make the application window visible. Right-clicking on the tray icon will display the tray menu.
